About this role | Mō tēnei tūranga
We’re looking for a Senior UX/UI Designer to help create and improve the Ministry’s digital and data products and services, including online services and applications. In this role you’ll lead end-to-end UX and UI design on medium-to-large pieces of work, and support the Lead UX/UI Designer to strengthen UX design practice across the Ministry.
You’ll take a human-centred approach—connecting the dots between users, business groups, products and services—and work closely with developers, business analysts, product owners and business teams to shape solutions that are usable, intuitive and accessible.
You’ll help us build better ways of involving the sector earlier and more consistently, so our design decisions reflect real needs and context.
Salary range: $100,296 - $121,490 per annum plus KiwiSaver. The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects individual skills and experience.

- A strong portfolio of professional UX/UI design work demonstrating end-to-end thinking and quality execution.
- Proven experience with the New Zealand Government Web Accessibility and Usability Standards.
- Experience applying user-centred design (UCD) and interaction design methods, including workshops, interviews, surveys, and usability testing.
