About this role | Mō tēnei tūranga 

 

We are looking for a Senior Advisor – Recruitment Services to join our team on a fixed-term contract until 18 December 2026, based in Wellington. In this role, you’ll lead the delivery of specialist, hands-on recruitment support, partnering with leaders to attract and secure top talent.

 

As a trusted recruitment expert, you will work with leaders across the Ministry to deliver high quality and timely recruitment support. You will help strengthen our recruitment practice, build hiring capability, and ensure our processes align with Ministry values and our commitment to excellent candidate experience. As we have a leader led recruitment model, being able to coach and support leaders throughout the recruitment process is an important part of this role.

 

The role also focuses on:

  • Partnering with leaders to provide high quality recruitment advice, HRIS guidance and practical, end‑to‑end support.
  • Guiding efficient, fair, and consistent recruitment processes that deliver timely outcomes and excellent candidate care.
  • Building hiring manager capability through coaching on structured, evidence-based practices.
  • Delivering targeted sourcing strategies that attract diverse, high‑calibre talent reflective of the communities we serve.
  • Managing relationships with external recruitment providers as needed.

 

Salary range: $100,296 - $121,490 per annum plus KiwiSaver. The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects individual skills and experience.

As a Senior Advisor, you will work collaboratively with stakeholders, developing trusted relationships at all levels of the organisation. You’ll bring strong technical recruitment expertise and be a positive role model for the development of our team.

 

You will also offer:

  • Proven internal recruitment experience and ideally in the public sector.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience using enterprise systems such as SAP SuccessFactors.
  • Confidence to manage high recruitment volumes across diverse groups.
  • A collaborative mindset and ability to work closely alongside other teams.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach to resourcing challenges.
  • Commitment to inclusive hiring practices and continuous improvement.
  • Commitment to deliver best practice recruitment experiences.
  • The ability and willingness to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.

Te Pou Rangatōpū | Corporate business group has two key roles which operate together: 

 

  • Keeping the Ministry safe by delivering essential Ministry-wide statutory and corporate functions and   
  • Delivering improvements to how the Ministry works, so we can achieve our priorities and support the Ministry to deliver the current Government’s priorities.
