We are seeking a motivated Advisor or Senior Advisor to join our Te Reo Māori Workforce Supply and Leadership team within our Education Workforce Supply & Leadership Group.
We are a team with a strong passion for making a difference in the lives of our ākonga.
You will work in a great team to:
- provide high quality and responsive analysis and advice
- contribute to and support programmes of work that may be complex, ambiguous and sensitive
- develop innovative, practical, and effective customer centric policy options and initiatives.
Salary range: Advisor $74,815 - $90,347 per annum plus KiwiSaver; Senior Advisor $85,225 - $103,071 plus KiwiSaver. The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects individual skills and experience.

To be successful in the role, you need to be curious and a critical thinker and problem solver. You’ll be a great communicator and work collaboratively with key internal and external stakeholders, developing relationships at all levels.
You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of, Te Ao Māori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Māori. You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of, te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public sector.

Senior Advisor- you offer:
- well developed business writing and presentation skills.
- critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- developed skills in policy creation, capable of simplifying complex information.
- demonstrated ability in evidence-based decision-making, including expertise in using data analytics tools like Power BI for strategic insights and policy development.
- commitment to achieving results for Māori.
- The ability and willingness to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.
About our group and team | Mātau rōpū ake
Te Pou Ohumahi Mātauranga | Education Workforce is a key part of the Ministry of Education. We develop the education workforce strategy, including a focus on specialist services, employment relations, pay equity, education payroll, education workforce supply and leadership, and scholarship functions.
The Te Reo Māori Workforce Supply and Leadership team is part of Education Workforce Supply & Leadership within Te Pou Ohumahi Mātauranga | Education Workforce. Our team is responsible for lifting the number, diversity and calibre of the education workforce, aligned to Government expectations and commitments. We shape the supply of a workforce with appropriate skills and qualifications to teach and support ākonga in schools, kura and early learning services. We support and develop strategies/initiatives and delivering solutions for school Leadership growth. We work with a wide range of stakeholders and functional groups within and beyond the Ministry.
