This role is a fixed term opportunity for 10 months.
The Senior Project Accountant will assist in the development, implementation and maintenance of effective and innovative business planning and budgeting systems and strategies to support Programme planning, risk management, decision making and monitoring processes. As a strategic partner to the Property Delivery team, the Senior Project Accountant will provide analytical financial and asset information for decision support to help them carry out their responsibilities.
The Senior Project Accountant has a key role in ensuring that capital reporting meets the needs of both these stakeholders including identifying and advising on measures to improve data quality and utility. Furthermore, they may oversee the activities of additional team members who will be responsible for budgeting, maintenance of systems, property financial calculators and providing quality analysis and advice to the programme.

About you | Mōhou ake
You will be a fully qualified Chartered Accountant with significant and relevant experience in a Finance team of an asset-intensive organisation (preferably a crown agency) and a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Economics or a similar business discipline.
You will also offer:
- Effective communication and relationship management skills
- Experience in a project accounting role
- Experience with financial modelling across multiple years and funding sources
- Experience of working with multiple data sources and systems to compile and generate management reports
- The ability to write clearly and succinctly in a variety of communication settings and styles / can get messages across with the desired effect.
- The ability and willingness to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.

The Capital Investments Team plays a critical role in supporting the capital delivery of school property projects. The team partners with delivery teams from project inception through to completion, providing financial insights, analysis, and advice at every stage. By ensuring strong financial oversight and alignment with strategic objectives, the Capital Investments Team helps drive successful outcomes and deliver value across the school property portfolio.
