About this role | Mō tēnei tūranga

 

We have multiple opportunities for an experienced Senior Data Warehouse Developer to join a high-impact team supporting the Ministry’s enterprise data platforms. This role is central to the development and evolution of our data warehousing and business intelligence solutions that underpin data and insights across the education sector. This is a core Data Warehousing team with the opportunity to contribute to defining ways of working and ensure collaboration occurs across both Data and Digital Delivery. Supported by Digital Practices, the team plays a key role enabling greater use of data for the Ministry, the schools, and our learners.

 

 

Salary range: $99.496 - $120,690 per annum + 3% kiwi saver.  The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects individual skills and experience.

About you | Mōhou ake

 

You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Māori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Māori. You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public sector.

 

To be successful in the role, you will bring

  • Prior experience within the New Zealand Government would be an advantage but not essential.
  • Experience in the use and development of data warehousing and BI reporting technologies.
  • A good understanding of database and data warehouse concepts, with demonstrated experience in Ralph Kimball and data vault data warehouse approaches.
  • Extensive use of SQL, SQL Server, T-SQL and ETL tooling, such as SSIS and BimlFlex.
  • Exposure to working with agile software development methodologies and an understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Experience in data analysis, modelling and reporting.
  • Advanced problem solving and data analytical skills
  • Knowledge of software languages such as C#, Python or Java.
  • An interest in Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment automation.
  • An understanding of data management principles, such as Data Quality, Reference Data, MDM, Metadata Management.
  • The ability and willingness to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.

 

About our group and team | Mātau rōpū ake

 

Matihiko | Digital leads the Ministry’s technology strategy, overseeing digital and data services, driving the cross-agency Connected Ako strategy, enabling system-wide digital investment, and aligning with government digital and data best practices.

 

Its two core responsibilities are:

 

•              Operating a secure, resilient digital environment for the Ministry, including networks, devices, tools, and data infrastructure.

•              Managing digital services that support the education sector’s funding, enrolment, assessment, identity, and school network needs.
