The Senior Data Analyst is a senior member of the team, responsible for designing, implementing and managing data processes related to data products that support the Ministry to perform its role. They will champion good-practice data management methods and work closely with stakeholders and colleagues to ensure the needs of data users are met and exceeded.

 

The Senior Data Analyst is responsible leading the implementation of key data collections for the Ministry and identifying opportunities to deliver improvements to how the Ministry collects, processes and assures the quality of strategically important data that support our monitoring of education system performance, working collaboratively with others to implement those improvements and produce high quality data outputs.

 

Salary range: $99,496 - $120,690 per annum, pro rata + 3% KiwiSaver. The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects individual skills and experience.

About you | Mōhou ake

 

To be successful in the role, you will have a breadth of experience in working with data, in particular the collection, cleansing and quality assurance of large datasets. You will also have a working knowledge of data-processing or statistical analysis tools, such as SAS or SQL.

 

Also important will be your proven ability to identify opportunities for improvement and to work with stakeholders and developers to design and implement these, championing good-practice data management and supporting colleagues in lifting their skills.

 

Good knowledge of the schooling sector would be a distinct bonus.

 

You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Māori and promote tikanga and te reo Māori. You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of te Tiriti o Waitangi as it applies in the public sector.

 

You will also demonstrate the ability and willingness to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.

 

About our group and team | Mātau rōpū ake

 

Te Pae Aronui is a group within Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga | Ministry of Education established to help drive a focus on equity by connecting across the Ministry and providing expert support and services to Te Mahau’s regional teams.

 

The Schooling Data Team are responsible for data business processes such overseeing the secure collection of priority administrative data from schools as well as ensuring all elements of data quality of that data and efficient data processing. We also manage relationships with the many providers and users of that data.
