This is a Fixed Term fulltime opportunity based in Wellington.
We are looking for a Senior Advisor – Recruitment Services to join our team on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract. In this role, you will take the lead in providing specialist and hands-on recruitment support to managers, helping them attract and hire top talent.
As a trusted recruitment expert, you will partner with leaders across the Ministry to deliver high quality and timely recruitment support. You will contribute to strengthening our recruitment practice, building hiring capability, and ensuring our processes reflect the values and expectations of the Ministry and our commitment to excellent candidate experience. We work in a leader led, systems driven environment, so being able to coach and support leaders throughout the recruitment process is an important part of this role.
The role focuses on:
- Partnering with people leaders to provide high quality recruitment advice and practical, end‑to‑end support.
- Guiding managers to run efficient, fair, and consistent recruitment processes that deliver timely outcomes and excellent candidate care.
- Coaching and uplifting hiring manager capability, supporting them to apply structured, evidence‑based recruitment and selection practices.
- Using data and insights to inform recruitment decisions, including analysis of key metrics such as time‑to‑fill, hard‑to‑fill roles, location constraints and talent pipelines.
- Delivering targeted sourcing strategies that attract diverse, high‑calibre talent reflective of the communities we serve.
- Managing relationships with external recruitment providers when needed.

Salary range: $100,296 – $115,132 per annum (pro rata) + 3% KiwiSaver. The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects individual skills and experience.

To be successful in this role, you’ll be working collaboratively with key internal and external stakeholders, developing relationships at all levels of management. You’ll bring a proactive, solutions focused mindset and a commitment to inclusive hiring practices.
You will also offer:
- 5+ years’ experience in corporate internal recruitment environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Confidence working with enterprise wide systems such as SAP SuccessFactors to support recruitment processes.
- A collaborative mindset and ability to work closely alongside other teams to deliver joined up people solutions.
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach to resourcing challenges.
- A commitment to inclusive hiring practices and continuous improvement
- The ability and willingness to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.
About our group and team | Mātau rōpū ake
Te Pou Rangatōpū | Corporate business group has two key roles which operate together:
- keeping the Ministry safe by delivering essential Ministry-wide statutory and corporate functions and
- delivering improvements to how the Ministry works, so we can achieve our priorities and support the Ministry to deliver the current Government’s priorities.
Recruitment Services is one of the enabling functions which sits within the group and provides advice and delivers on recruitment and talent needs.
