About this role | Mō tēnei tūranga

 

The Senior Advisor – Integrated Insights provides expert advice to actively achieve equitable education outcomes for Māori learners and Māori language in education in alignment with Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the aspirations of Māori communities. 

 

The role will:

  • work across Te Pou Tuarongo to integrate insights that support the delivery of high-quality work within Te Pou Tuarongo and more widely
  • provide expert advice and guidance on strategic and practical implementation of Ka Hikitia and Tau Mai Te Reo strategies to support an integrated delivery approach and equitable and excellent outcomes for Māori learners and all learners of te reo Māori.

 

The Senior Advisor – Integrated Insights will also build and maintain relationships across Te Tāhuhu o Te Mātauranga and other education agencies to collect, capture and integrate insights.

 

Salary range: $100,296 - $121,490 per annum + 3% KiwiSaver. The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects individual skills and experience.

About you | Mōhou ake

 

It is ideal that you have a strong background in working in education and/or with the education sector to deliver equitable outcomes for Māori learners and/or Māori language in education.

 

You will bring an analytical and detail-oriented approach to support your advisory skills. You will confidently deliver evidence-based advice to support the implementation of Ka Hikitia and Tau Mai te Reo.

 

You will also champion and lead Te Tāhuhu efforts to shape practices that deliver on Ka Hikitia and Tau Mai te Reo.

 

You will bring with you:

 

  • A strong understanding of the political context and the machinery of government.
  • Developing, implementing and innovating to achieve excellent and equitable outcomes for all learners.
  • Proactively applying Te Tiriti o Waitangi | the Treaty of Waitangi to strategy, policy and implementation.
  • A proven understanding of honouring relationships and partnerships between Māori and the Crown to ensure excellent and equitable outcomes for Māori and Treaty settlement commitments.
  • Familiarity with te ao Māori and understanding of te reo Māori, tikanga Māori and mātauranga Māori.
  • A proven ability to provide strategic advice including the translation of national strategies into actionable insights to support the successful development, delivery and review of implementation plans.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships and influence others. Through strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with Māori.
  • Analytical thinking — synthesises complex data and policy to generate actionable insights.
  • Communication — articulates ideas clearly and simply. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Collaboration — works effectively across teams to give effect to and achieve strategic priorities.
  • A commitment to ongoing personal and professional development.
  • The ability and willingness to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.

 

About the group and team | Mātau rōpū ake


Te Pou Tuarongo | Māori Education is responsible for four areas.

 

  • System Delivery: Ensuring there is an integrated approach to delivering on Ka Hikitia - Ka Hāpaitia and Tau Mai Te Reo.
  • Relationships: Building and brokering relationships across the Ministry and with iwi, Māori Medium and Kaupapa Māori Education.
  • Monitoring: Oversight of the Ministry’s approach to Māori education and outcomes for Māori learners, monitoring the delivery of Te Tiriti o Waitangi settlements and other Iwi-Māori agreements and the Ministry’s response to kaupapa inquiries and other contemporary issues.
  • Capability: Building capability across the Ministry and sector to be a responsible and responsive Te Tiriti partner and give effect to strengthened educational outcomes for all ākonga Māori.
