About this role | Mō tēnei tūranga

 

This role is based in Wellington and the successful candidate will need to be physically located in Wellington.

 

We’re looking for a Scrum Master to support our Digital teams in delivering high-quality, user-focused digital services. You’ll coach agile teams, facilitate Scrum events, and help remove blockers to ensure smooth delivery of value.


You’ll work closely with Product Owners, developers, and stakeholders to embed agile ways of working, foster collaboration, and continuously improve team performance. This is a key role in shaping how agile is practiced across our digital delivery teams, helping us build smarter, more responsive solutions for education in Aotearoa.

  

Salary range: $118,371 - $143,760 per annum + 3% KiwiSaver. The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects individual skills and experience.

About you | Mōhou ake

 

You’re an experienced Scrum Master with a strong background in agile delivery within digital environments. You’re a confident facilitator and coach who builds trust, encourages collaboration, and helps teams grow.

 

You understand the challenges of delivering digital solutions in complex organisations and know how to guide teams through them. You’re passionate about agile values, continuous improvement, and making a real difference through technology. You'll also have the ability and willingness to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.

 

About our group and team | Mātau rōpū ake 

 

At Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga | Ministry of Education, you’ll be part of a purpose-driven Digital team working to improve outcomes for ākonga across Aotearoa. 


Matihiko | Digital holds the strategic lead on technology matters across the Ministry. This includes oversight of digital services in the Ministry, leading the cross-agency strategy ‘Connected Ako: Digital and Data for Learning’, enabling education system wide planning and investment in digital services, and ensuring the Ministry’s alignment with broader best-practice government digital and data direction and guidance.
