About this role | Mō tēnei tūranga

 

We are seeking a Research Analyst with great attention to detail and strong qualitative research skills to support the Sensitive Claims process. In this role, you’ll undertake archival and records‑based research, analyse complex information, and help deliver clear, robust reports.

 

If you’re early in your research career, this role offers an excellent opportunity to grow your capability. You don’t have to have lots of experience in research previously, what matters is your curiosity, the ability to take on feedback and learn from it, and attention to detail.

 

In this role, you will be:

 

  • Supporting the planning and delivery of quality research using appropriate tools in support of the Sensitive Claims work programme.
  • Working with the research team to provide expert advice to the Sensitive Claims Leadership Team and relevant governance or working groups.
  • Delivering high quality, timely, and evidence-based advice to internal stakeholders and decision makers, responding to queries and information requests.
  • Conducting qualitative analysis of archival material and present insights clearly through tailored research reports for diverse audiences.
  • Producing reports, briefings, and presentation materials that clearly communicate analysis and findings using audience appropriate formats.
  • Providing advice on complex, varied, or unpredictable research issues, and escalating risks or issues where appropriate.
  • Providing communications and editorial support where required.

 

Salary range: $74,815 - $90,347 per annum plus KiwiSaver. The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects individual skills and experience.

About our group and team | Mātau rōpū ake 

 

The Sensitive Claims team leads and delivers the Ministry’s redress process for addressing claims of historic abuse or neglect in state schools. A sensitive claim is defined as a claim where an individual alleges that they were abused or neglected at a state or residential special school and is seeking some form of redress. We ensure claims are managed in a respectful, mana-enhancing way, and that claimants and their whānau are at the centre of everything we do.

 

We also work closely with the Crown Response Office and other state redress agencies on delivering the Government’s Redress response to the recommendations of the Royal Commission of Inquiry into Abuse in State Care.

 

Our group sits within Te Pou Taunaki | Learning Support group who are accountable for providing functional leadership to all learning support services spanning national functions and regional delivery, delivered either in-house, by education providers or by other providers.
