About this role | Mō tēnei tūranga
This is a permanent role based in Wellington.
We’re looking for a specialist with broad experience in corporate accountability, performance and assurance to support the Agency to achieve its mission. As Principal Organisational Performance Advisor, you will provide expert advice covering organisational performance and assurance, as well as general corporate support. This will ensure the Agency can effectively deliver on its purpose as a high performing organisation.
You will:
- Support the ongoing implementation of the Agency’s future excellence horizon and strategic roadmap through effective planning and reporting, risk management and assurance
- Maintain an organisational performance framework that meets the Agency’s statutory obligations and helps the Agency monitor its effective delivery
- Develop and track a set of effective non-financial performance measures and indicators
- Identify areas for improvement in organisational planning and reporting
- Lead and deliver projects relating to corporate accountability requirements and organisational improvement
- Maintain approaches to identify and manage risks and opportunities that may have a significant impact on the Agency’s performance
- Establish professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including across the Agency, Ministry of Education, central agencies and external service providers.
Salary range: $119,171 - $144,560 per annum + 3% kiwi saver. The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects individual skills and experience.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Expertise in public sector accountability and non-financial performance reporting
- Knowledge of government and public sector processes, with Education sector an advantage
- Experience in developing, monitoring, improving and maintaining workflows and processes
- Ability to assess critically the operating context and identify risks, opportunities and performance implications.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including facilitation and influence.
- The ability and willingness to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.

The Charter School Agency is a departmental agency that receives services and support from the Ministry of Education. The Agency opened on 1 July 2024 and is responsible for implementing and operating the charter school model. The first tranche of charter schools opened in Term 1 2025 with a second tranche planned to open in the coming terms.
