Mō tēnei tūranga | About this role

Permanent position located in Wellington.

 

The Principal Advisor, Vehicle Fleet, Property and Sustainability will be responsible for the Ministry of Education vehicle fleet planning and oversight of the operational management of the vehicle fleet.  In addition, this position will provide support to the Manager, Property and Sustainability across the Property and Sustainability portfolio.

 

In this role you will:

  • Monitor closely the Ministry’s vehicle fleet operations across the Ministry to ensure it is operating to meet business needs, be compliant with associated legislation, policy and processes
  • Keep a close watching brief on the costs and carbon emissions of the fleet
  • Lead projects to innovate and update the fleet
  • Assist with leading broader projects and key priorities in Property and Sustainability (when required)

 

Salary range: $119,171 - $144,560 per annum + 3% kiwi saver. The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects individual skills and experience.

We’re looking for a strategic and experienced Principal Advisor to combine in-depth experience of managing large nationwide vehicle fleets along with being able to support broader projects across Property and Sustainability.    You’ll have the versatility to pick up new pieces of work as well as the ability to work proactively at pace, build effective and collaborative working relationships and support the overall delivery of outcomes across the Property and Sustainability corporate function as a whole.

 

You will also offer:

  • A track record of bringing people together and leading, coaching and mentoring others to achieve outcomes 
  • An ability to identify key stakeholders both within and outside and organisation and work collaboratively to achieve the desired outcomes
  • A proven ability to use data and insights to identify trends, risks and opportunities, to influence and guide organisational and system-level decision making
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • A commitment to ongoing personal and professional development
  • Project management
  • Documentation and report writing to Boards and senior executive
  • The ability to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct
