About this role | Mō tēnei tūranga
This is a full-time permanent opportunity to join the leadership team of Matihiko | Digital, a core function of the Ministry that delivers a comprehensive range of digital & data products and services to both Ministry & education sector customers.
The role of Manager Digital Solution Support leads a well-established function with a team of 80-90 permanent employees, supported by a range of outsourced delivery partners, and is primarily accountable for our production systems environment comprising a wide range of business applications and supporting infrastructure, a nationwide branch office network, and ~5,000 internal users.
As we continue to migrate business applications from legacy bespoke technologies to cloud native applications, the nature of the skills and capabilities we need will continue to evolve, so a critical part of this role will be leading kaimahi through change and reshaping team composition as required.
The team includes a highly regarded inhouse service desk team, a cloud platforms team and our Cyber Security Operations Centre. Key focus areas include continuous improvement, cost efficiency and system availability & security. A customer-centric and solution-focussed mindset will position you well to succeed in leading the function.
Salary range: $165,501 - $248,251 per annum + 3% kiwi saver. The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects individual skills and experience.

You will represent the organisation to the customer base in the sector, managing business and financial sustainability.
To be successful in this role, you will have the following capabilities and competencies:

- Be able to maximise the technical strengths within the team

- Proven ability to direct and identify key skillsets within the existing team to maximise output, using resourcing effectively to meet needs across the group
- Superb partnering skills with customers through multi-disciplinary teams and a product-based approach.
You will also have:
- People and operational leadership experience within a complex environment
- Experience in developing and delivering integrated functional strategies, work programmes and budgets
- Experience in leading and managing the development, implementation and ongoing monitoring of functional systems, frameworks and processes
- A solution-focussed mindset

- A calm approach and be clear headed in your thinking
- The ability to adapt and respond to changing circumstances and pressure

About our group and team | Mātau rōpū ake
Matihiko | Digital leads the Ministry’s technology strategy, overseeing digital services, driving the cross-agency Connected Ako strategy, enabling system-wide digital investment, and aligning with government digital and data best practices.
Its two core responsibilities are:
- Operating a secure, resilient digital environment for the Ministry, including networks, devices, tools, and data infrastructure.
- Managing digital services that support the education sector’s funding, enrolment, assessment, identity, and school network needs.
