About this role | Mō tēnei tūranga

 

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Lead Salesforce Developer to lead a high-impact team supporting the Ministry’s enterprise CRM platform. This role is central to the strategic direction, scalability, and technical leadership of our Salesforce Platform that underpins service delivery and engagement across the education sector.

 

You’ll work closely with a cross-functional team to establish a robust, scalable and secure Platform that enables extensible user-centred products to be implemented on the Salesforce platform. Supported by Digital Practices, the team plays a key role in enabling smarter service delivery and better outcomes for learners, whānau, and educators.

 

Salary range - $119,171 - $144,560 per annum + 3% kiwi saver.  The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects individual skills and experience.

About you | Mōhou ake

 

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

 

  • Prior experience within the New Zealand Government would be an advantage but not essential.
  • Extensive experience developing on the Salesforce platform (Lightning Web Components, Aura Components, Apex, Flows, OmniStudio, SOQL), with a strong understanding of platform architecture and design patterns.
  • Deep hands-on experience with Salesforce configuration-first approaches and declarative tools, including App Builder, Flow Builder, Dynamic Forms, and Permission Sets.
  • Proven ability to lead teams to implement solutions using configuration-first frameworks such as Salesforce Public Sector Solutions (PSS), enabling scalable and rapid solution development.
  • Strong experience with Service Cloud, Public Sector Solutions (PSS), and Experience Cloud, including tailoring solutions to meet complex public sector requirements.
  • Demonstrated leadership in agile delivery practices and DevOps tooling (e.g., Azure DevOps, Git), including mentoring teams and supporting CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience with APIs and middleware platforms, including Mulesoft, REST, and SOAP, with a focus on secure and scalable system interoperability.
  • The ability and willingness to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.

 

You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Māori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Māori. You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public sector.

Te Pou Kōrero | Digital and Data holds the strategic lead on technology matters across the Ministry. This includes oversight of digital services in the Ministry, leading the cross-agency strategy ‘Connected Ako: Digital and Data for Learning’, enabling education system wide planning and investment in digital services, and ensuring the Ministry’s alignment with broader best-practice government digital and data direction and guidance.
