About this role | Mō tēnei tūranga
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Lead Developer to be part of a new team supporting a mission-critical funding system that calculates and distributes operational grants to schools and Early Learning Services across Aotearoa. This is a foundation team with the opportunity to define ways of working and ensure collaboration occurs throughout delivery.
Supported by Digital Practices, the team will play a key role for the Ministry, the schools, and our learners.
Salary range: $118,371 - $143,760 per annum + 3% kiwi saver. The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects individual skills and experience.

About you | Mōhou ake
You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Māori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Māori. You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public sector.
To be successful in this role, you will bring.
- Prior experience within the New Zealand Government would be an advantage but not essential.
- Proven experience leading and guiding technical teams through complex problem-solving.
- Proven ability to collaborate across teams and with stakeholders to translate business needs into effective technical solutions.
- Have proven experience using .NET Core (C#) for development, including implementing suitable unit and integration tests to prove functionality.
- Have proven experience with Event Sourcing, Document DB and Database migrations ( MartenDB, PostgreSQL)
- Have experience with React and Angular.
- Ability to evaluate and recommend tools, frameworks, and patterns that enhance scalability, security, and maintainability.
- Good understanding of Azure Cloud service and DevOps principles, especially CI/CD pipelines
- The ability and willingness to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.

Te Puna Hanganga, Matihiko | Infrastructure and Digital group leads inclusive, accessible and integrated national, digital and physical infrastructure and transport services to the education system. We work to deliver technological solutions to deliver a more ‘networked’ system, in which digital and technology solutions are considered alongside network infrastructure solution design and the local and regional needs.
