About this role | Mō tēnei tūranga

The Financial Accountant is a specialist role responsible for the Ministry’s external financial reporting outputs.

You will be responsible for the production of the Ministry’s external financial reporting outputs, including the financial section of the Annual Report, baseline updates (OBU, MBU), Estimates, Supplementary Estimates, forecast tracks, monthly actuals and other reports required by Treasury. The role also involves preparing responses to finance related OIAs, PQs and Select Committee questions.


Salary range: $84,425 - $102,271 per annum + 3% KiwiSaver. The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects individual skills and experience.

About you | Mōhou ake


We're looking for a Financial Accountant with excellent communication skills and a solid understanding of the machinery of government including knowledge of public sector financial frameworks, processes and systems.

To be successful in this role you will have a practical and positive attitude and the ability to build effective relationships and credibility with customers within Finance and Treasury.

 

You will also offer:
 

  • Chartered Accountant status within CAANZ or equivalent; the role may suit a recently qualified   
    accountant.
  • Proactive and flexible mindset with the ability to plan and manage work to ensure priorities are  achieved and work is delivered on time and to standard.
  • Strong MS Excel skills; some experience in financial modelling would be ideal.
  • The ability and willingness to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.

Te Pou Rangatōpū | Corporate group is responsible for delivering essential Ministry-wide statutory and corporate functions. We enable the organisation to operate effectively and help fulfil the statutory and reporting obligations of Te Tāhuhu.This role is part of the External Reporting team within Te Pou Rangatōpū | Corporate. Our group is responsible for delivering the Ministry’s statutory and reporting obligations, acting as a conduit between Treasury and other Ministry teams.
