About this role | Mō tēnei tūranga
This is a permanent full-time role based in Wellington.
We’re looking for two highly organised and trusted Executive Assistants to provide one on one support to two executive leaders:
Hautū | Deputy Secretary, Te Pou Kōrero | Digital and Data, and
Hautū | Deputy Secretary, Te Pou Taunaki |Learning Support.
You’ll manage a dynamic schedule, oversee confidential administrative tasks, and ensure the Hautū are equipped to lead their business groups effectively.
You’ll join a connected, collaborative and supportive team in the Office of the Hautū. The work is varied and fast-paced, with regular engagement across the Ministry and with external partners.
You’ll think two steps ahead to make sure all the little details are taken care of. This includes.
- owning a changing and often complex diaries
- overseeing and proactively managing busy inboxes
- triaging requests to ensure urgent matters are actioned and others are delegated appropriately
- preparing meeting packs and coordinating papers
- sharing your knowledge through peer mentoring opportunities.
Your trustworthy, proactive support, and strong judgement will be critical to the smooth running of our business units and in enabling our Hautū to focus on strategic leadership.
Salary range: $74,815 - $90,347 per annum + 3% kiwi saver. The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects individual skills and experience.

About you | Mōhou ake
You’ll bring a calm, professional presence and strong judgement, along with:
- Proven experience providing executive support to a senior leader (Tier 2 ideally) in a complex organisation.
- Experience managing the diary of a senior leader, arranging appointments and organising papers to support meetings.
- Excellent organisational, relationship-building, administrative and time management skills.
- Sound judgment, discretion and professionalism
- Knowledge of and experience of the Machinery of Government and/or public sector
- High proficiency in Microsoft tools, including MS Teams
- The ability and willingness to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.

We lead the development and implementation of digital and data strategies, provide oversight of products and services, and work closely with partners across the education sector. We have a strong focus on innovation, exploring new technologies, and enabling evidence-based decision making.
Te Pou Taunaki | Learning Support group enables the provision of services that support achievement and success in everyday life for learners with additional needs.
