About this role | Mō tēnei tūranga

 

Join our Evidence, Synthesis and Reporting team in Wellington, and help shape the story behind New Zealand’s education data. As an Analyst, you will support the Ministry of Education with data analysis and reporting to ensure that our public facing statistics are high quality and are presented in a way which is clear and understandable to a wide range of people.

 

You will turn complex information into clear, meaningful insights that inform decisions and improve outcomes for learners. You’ll work with large datasets, apply robust statistical analysis, and produce high-quality reports. Your work will support public releases of education statistics and contribute to investment decisions that make a real difference for ākonga and whānau across New Zealand.

 

This work:

 

  • Details the story of educational achievement and performance
  • Is produced for key decision makers and public audiences, and
  • Ultimately improves student wellbeing and outcomes.

 

Salary range: $74,815 - $90,347 per annum + 3% KiwiSaver. The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects individual skills and experience.

About you | Mōhou ake

 

The Analysts in our team have good analytical skills and the ability to write about data for a general audience. Along with being able to work independently, our Analysts build effective collaborative relationships both within the team and with subject matter experts across the Ministry.

 

As an Analyst in our team, you will offer the ability to:

 

  • Communicate to a range of audiences, with skills in translating complex data into plain language for a broad range of stakeholders
  • Provide excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Manipulate, summarise and analyse large quantitative datasets using Excel, and database products and programming languages such as SQL, SAS or R
  • The ability and willingness to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.

 

About our group and team | Mātau rōpū ake

 

Te Pae Aronui is a group within Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga | Ministry of Education established to help drive a focus on equity by connecting across the Ministry and providing expert support and services to Te Mahau’s regional teams.

 

The Evidence, Synthesis and Reporting team are responsible for the regular release of education sector statistics, particularly for early learning, schooling and the transition to tertiary. This includes the public release of data tables and written reports.
