About this role | Mō tēnei tūranga 

 

Based in the Horowhenua/Kapiti Centre
Part-time. 0.8 FTE

 

As an Occupational Therapist you will play a critical role in our region’s Learning Support team by:

  • Supporting parents and whanau, teachers and schools to meet the learning support needs of children and young people
  • Developing and maintaining collaborative relationships with a range of professional partners, community and sector groups and support agencies to ensure that services are coordinated and effective
  • Enhancing inclusive practices in early learning services, schools and other educational settings
  • Providing professional support and guidance to schools, teachers and families and providing appropriate specialist intervention plans 

Salary range: $69,966 to $112,270 per annum + 3% kiwi saver.  The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects individual skills and experience.

About you | Mōhou ake

 

To be successful in the role, you will need:

 

 

  • A Bachelor of Occupational Therapy or equivalent as approved by the Occupational Therapy Board of New Zealand
  • To have registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of New Zealand and to hold a current practicing certificate
  • Ability to translate specialist knowledge into practical information
  • Ability to co-ordinate service provision in a multi-agency, trans-disciplinary setting
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and an ability to work effectively with children, young people and their families and teachers across a diverse range of settings
  • The ability to understand and apply the principles of Te Tirirti o Waitangi and tangata whenuatanga.Insert specific skills, experience or qualification
  • The ability and willingness to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.

The Wellington region Matea Ako Tautoko team has 140 committed, hardworking, and skilled specialist staff (across a range of occupations) who care very much about the ākonga, kai ako, whanau, kai awhina we support. We also care about our colleagues and work collaboratively and supportively together on the rewarding mahi we do. We have fun team activities and social times in our teams and office.

 

As a frontline group we develop and harness existing relationships with communities at the regional and local level, including relationships with iwi and hapū.

 

We are located in a new office in Paraparaumu on the sunny Kāpiti Coast. The position works across our Kāpiti and Horowhenua Learning Support teams.
