About this role | Mō tēnei tūranga

 

This role is permanent fulltime and can be based in either the Palmerston North or Whanganui offices.

 

As Strategic Advisor, Māori, you will provide thought leadership and expertise to strategies, work programmes and complex system issues to accelerate Māori educational achievement. You will ensure Māori needs and aspirations are at the forefront of decision-making, promote Māori identity, language and culture, and support the Director of Education in leading iwi and Māori stakeholder engagements.

 

Salary range: $119,171 - $144,560 per annum + 3% kiwi saver. The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects individual skills and experience.

About you | Mōhou ake

 

To be successful in this role, you will:

 

  • Have experience at a leadership level, ideally in a complex organisation
  • Demonstrate ability to lead strategic initiatives and organisational change
  • Build strong relationships and partnerships with iwi and Māori organisations
  • Possess sound political awareness and ability to navigate government processes
  • Communicate effectively in Te Reo Māori when required
  • Provide cultural support to ensure tikanga Māori is respected in engagements
  • You will also offer excellent interpersonal skills, data-driven decision-making capability, and a commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • The ability and willingness to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.

Te Mahau Takiwā provides integrated regional services to support schools, kura, early learning providers and whānau. We work collaboratively to ensure education services are accessible, responsive and equitable across Aotearoa.
