We have a great opportunity for the right person to join our Southland Team at the Ministry of Education.

 

We are looking someone to collaborate with school leaders, boards of trustees and colleagues, to enhance educational outcomes for all students within our community. There will be a particular focus on assisting schools and kura to navigate and successfully implement educational change, with particular focus on attendance and achievement.

 

 

Salary range: $ 84,425 - $ 102,271 per annum + 3% kiwi saver.  The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects individual skills and experience.

About you | Mōhou ake

 

We are looking for a person who has:

 

  • The ability to influence others with knowledge, skills and experience in improving student engagement and achievement.
  • A good understanding of the New Zealand education system and of legislation relevant to education
  • Experience, preferably at a leadership level, in Secondary or Primary education, Māori medium, or school governance.
  • Relationship and stakeholder management experience
  • The ability to understand and apply the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
  • The ability to partner with others to support and implement change initiatives.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification
  • A full New Zealand driver’s licence
  • The ability and willingness to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.

 

You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Māori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Māori. You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public sector.

 

About our group and team | Mātau rōpū ake

 

At Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga, we work to provide services and support nationally, regionally and locally to the education sector, and in some cases, directly to ākonga and whanau.

 

The successful candidate appointed permanently to the Invercargill, Southland region will be based in the Invercargill office. They will join a supportive and performance-driven team environment.
