This is a Permanent, Full-time role based in Hamilton/Tauranga

The Regional Accountant is a specialist role responsible for providing accurate, timely and expert financial advice, information, and analysis to help managers in business groups make timely and informed financial decisions, manage financial performance and be accountable for public funds.

 

The Regional Accountant is the ‘customer’ face of Finance for the regions. The role liaises with and utilises specialist teams in Finance to ensure the Ministry meets its statutory financial obligations, to deliver value to managers in business groups, and ensure quality and consistent advice and practices.

 

Salary range: $99,496 - $120,690 per annum + 3% kiwi saver.  The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects individual skills and experience.

About you | Mōhou ake

 

To be successful in this role you will have the ability to build effective relationships and credibility with customers at all levels across the Ministry, team members and colleagues in Finance.

 

You will have a practical and positive attitude and a keen interest in process improvement.

 

You will also offer:

 

  • Demonstrated experience partnering with business managers to develop and maintain effective working relationships
  • Ability to plan and manage annual budget processes and financial forecasting
  • A sound understanding financial management, preferably with exposure to the public sector
  • Thorough practical understanding and application of management accounting principles and techniques
  • Experience undertaking financial modelling and in-depth or complex financial analysis
  • The ability to navigate and use multiple financial and operational systems to gain valuable insights for your customers
  • Can effectively influence and provide specialist advice to senior managers
  • Tertiary Qualification in Finance, Commerce or Business, and holding Chartered Accountant status or equivalent
  • The ability and willingness to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.

 

You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Māori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Māori. You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public sector.

This role is part of Financial Planning and Performance within Te Pou Rangatōpū | Corporate. The Financial Planning and Performance Team are the “customer” face of finance. We support the various business groups within the Ministry by providing accurate, timely and expert financial advice, information and analysis to help the groups make timely and informed financial decisions, manage financial performance and be accountable for public funds.
