About this role | Mō tēnei tūranga

This is a 12-month fixed term, full-time position.

 

The role is responsible for providing day to day financial, operational and administrative support to deliver to a consistently high standard the key financial activities within the Finance Hub - Capital Investments team.

 

Tasks will be varied, but include processing orders, invoices, credit notes, journals, budget reconciliations, managing a shared mailbox, and other associated finance tasks that support the busy Property Delivery Programmes.

 

The successful applicant will be action-orientated and customer-focused with excellent time management and communication skills. The ability to work collaboratively within a team is vital.

 

Salary range: $60,879 - $72,999 per annum + 3% KiwiSaver. The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects individual skills and experience.

About you | Mōhou ake

You have solid experience in financial processing, ideally within the public sector, and thrive in a fast-paced environment where accuracy and attention to detail are key. Your positive, can-do attitude and ability to stay calm under pressure will help you succeed in this role.

 

You will also offer: 

  • Proven experience processing high volumes of financial transactions in a busy, deadline-driven environment
  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to reconcile financial data and identify discrepancies
  • A sharp eye for detail, able to spot when something doesn’t look right, perform control checks, and ensure policies and procedures are being followed
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and delivering quality work on time
  • A proactive approach to resolving issues as they arise
  • Familiarity working with office and financial systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability and willingness to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.

About our group and team | Mātau rōpū ake

Te Pou Rangatōpū | Corporate group is responsible for delivering essential Ministry-wide statutory and corporate functions. We enable the organisation to operate effectively and help fulfil the statutory and reporting obligations of Te Tāhuhu.

 

The Finance Hub sits within the Capital Investments team, part of Te Pou Rangatōpū | Corporate. This team plays a critical role in supporting the capital delivery of school property projects. The team partners with delivery teams from project inception through to completion, providing financial insights, analysis, and advice at every stage. By ensuring strong financial oversight and alignment with strategic objectives, the Capital Investments Team helps drive successful outcomes and deliver value across the school property portfolio.

 

The Finance Hub team provides critical ‘back office’ support that enables the ‘front office’ to focus on the delivery of significant infrastructure programmes. We’re a supportive, friendly and diverse team who are customer focused and committed to delivering high quality service.
