About this role | Mō tēnei tūranga

 

We are looking for a highly skilled and proactive Executive Assistant to support the Director of Education, Canterbury Chatham Islands.

 

This is a full-time, permanent role requiring a high level of professionalism, discretion, and initiative.

 

You’ll be responsible for managing the Director’s schedule, correspondence, and key priorities, while also providing high-quality administrative, analytical, and research support. This is a pivotal role that requires sound judgement, adaptability, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

 

 

Key responsibilities include:

 

  • Managing confidential information and maintaining the trust of the Director.
  • Proactively managing diaries, travel, meetings, and logistics.
  • Monitoring correspondence and ensuring timely responses and follow-ups.
  • Preparing briefings, reports, and presentations.
  • Supporting financial and purchasing processes.
  • Identifying and implementing process improvements.
  • Supporting the regional Incident Management Team as Controller’s Assistant.

 

Salary range: $65,801 - $79,195 per annum + 3% kiwi saver.  The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects individual skills and experience.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • High-level proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Experience booking travel and organising events.
  • Understanding of the Machinery of Government and/or public sector.
  • A commitment to upholding Te Tiriti o Waitangi and public service values.
  • The ability and willingness to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.
